Why does my JL Wrangler leak near the foot-well?

Short answer: The leak enters from the side, not the floor. On many JL/JLU models, the body-side seal at the door–tub seam is missing. Rain rides the A-pillar, bypasses the door weatherstrip, and spills into the foot-well. Adding the missing seal restores compression and stops the intrusion.

  • No body-side seal → weak weatherstrip compression → water entry.
  • Water tracks down the A-pillar and bypasses the door seal.
  • Carpet gets wet from the sill/side, not from below.
  • Often misdiagnosed as drains or windshield gasket issues.

Fix: Install the model-specific Wrangler Weather Guard™ kit (JL 2-Door or JLU 4-Door). It adds the missing body-side seal and restores uniform compression along the door frame.
